Minimalism
Minimalism stems from Western modernism in the early 20th century. The famous phrase "less is more" by European modernist master Mies Vander Rohe is considered to represent the core idea of minimalism. Minimalism is characterized by simplifying the design elements, colors, lighting, and raw materials to a minimum, but it requires high color and material texture. Therefore, simple space design is usually very subtle, and can often reach a world where less wins more and simpler wins. The expressions of conciseness meets people's perceptual, instinctual, and rational needs for the space environment. This is a popular design style in the international community nowadays.
Citizens’ fast-paced, high-frequency, full-load, has led themselves to the an unacceptable state. In such a busy life style, people desire a space that can completely relax, adjust and transform the spirit with simplicity and purity. This is the natural psychology generated by people under the control of complementary consciousness. Minimalism was developed on the basis of the rebellion against the retro trend and minimalist aesthetics in the mid-1980s. In the early 1990s, it began to integrate into the field of interior design.
